What A Pity! She Fought for Her Dream Body… But Passed Away Too Soon. (Before/After Photos)

According to statistics, one in eight people in the world suffers from obesity. For some, it’s just a few extra kilos gained from working remotely and loving pasta and pastries. But for others, the situation becomes critical. One of those people was Charity Pierce. In 2013, she appeared on a weight‑loss show, and at that time she weighed 353 kilograms.

“I Can’t Ever Feel Full”

Charity was never slim. She grew up in a troubled household where violence and cruelty were part of daily life. The only thing she could do without fear of punishment was eat at night, when everyone was asleep and no one could stop her.

“I had a very hard childhood. My father drank heavily. I was terrified of him. I remember hiding before he came home. He would throw dishes from the cabinet and hit us. My life back then was nothing but fear. Every evening, when he finally fell asleep, I would sneak into the kitchen and comfort myself with food,” Charity recalled on the show My 600-lb Life (18+).

Even after she grew up and moved away from her family, her dependence on food didn’t disappear. Every problem and disappointment was soothed with a burger or greasy fries. Whether she lost her job, learned her mother had cancer, or found herself alone raising a child, food became her emotional escape.

“I eat too much. I can never feel full,” she admitted.

By the age of 39, her weight had reached a dangerous 353 kilograms. She also suffered from chronic open sores and lymphedema, a condition that causes fluid buildup and severe swelling in the limbs, leading to massive growths on her body.

“I use a portable toilet because a regular one wouldn’t support my weight,” Pierce said through tears.

“I’m Ashamed of My Body”

In 2012, Charity reached out to the producers of the project. Because of her illnesses, she could barely do anything on her own.

“I’m ashamed of my body. I don’t want anyone to see it. I look so different from everyone else, and it embarrasses me. I know I look like a monster. Inside, I’m a normal person, but when I look in the mirror, I see a monster. I’d rather die than keep living like this,” she cried.

During filming, it became clear that her condition was so severe she couldn’t even attend appointments on her own. An ambulance and medical team had to transport her on a stretcher to the clinic.

Unlike other participants who lived at home and visited the doctor periodically, Charity was immediately hospitalized and placed on a strict 1,000‑calorie‑a‑day diet with no sweets or flour products. The goal was to help her quickly lose 20 kilograms so she could qualify for gastric bypass surgery.

“The only thing that can save my life is gastric bypass. I’m a single mother on disability, and I have no one to rely on but myself,” she repeated to stay motivated.

Charity wanted to lose weight not only for herself. She dreamed of eventually marrying her 20‑year‑old boyfriend, who had cared for her for years.

“I want to be able to walk down the aisle,” she said of her biggest wish.

After two months in the hospital, she managed to lose the required weight and successfully underwent surgery. But that was only the beginning. Doctors instructed her to continue losing another 20 kilograms so excess skin could later be removed.

Back at home, adjusting to new eating habits proved difficult. During filming, tragedy struck — her mother, who had battled cancer for a long time, passed away. As she had done her entire life when facing pain, Charity turned back to food for comfort.

“I can resist temptation when things are going well. But right now, it’s too hard. I don’t know how to change everything. I want to keep losing weight, but at this moment, it’s incredibly difficult,” she admitted.

Despite all the heartbreak, Charity managed to pull herself together and lost some weight — though only about 8 kilograms. After that, she underwent surgery to remove 26 kilograms of fatty tumors and was sent home to continue her journey on her own. 💔

“I Found Out I Had Kidney Cancer”

After the show, weighing around 200 kilograms, Charity hoped to rebuild and strengthen her personal life. But life struck again — her young boyfriend left her for her own sister. The stress pushed her toward food, though she resisted. Lacking healthier coping methods, she turned to alcohol. Her drinking strained her relationship with her only daughter, who had been living with her and helping care for her while she was unable to manage on her own. 😢

In 2020, Charity shared on her blog that she had been diagnosed with cancer:

“On Christmas, I learned I have kidney cancer. It shocked me, especially since my mother passed away from brain cancer. Since then, I’ve felt constant anxiety and fainted several times. The next step was to have my kidney removed as soon as possible before the disease spread to other organs.”

In the spring, Charity underwent surgery to remove her kidney and began treatment. Her illness caused her weight to drop significantly — down to around 100 kilograms. This period became a turning point in her life: she was able to reconcile with her daughter, who had recently given birth.

In her final years, Charity spent most of her time with her grandchild, showering him with all the love she had longed for as a child. At the end of January, her daughter announced that Charity had passed away.

“I wasn’t planning to write this, but the calls and messages are overwhelming. Almost all close relatives know that today my mom passed. She is now with her mom, brother, and sister, finally at peace. Fly high, Mom. I hope you know how much I love you and how grateful I am that I could be by your side when you took your last breath,” wrote Charli Jo on social media. 💔💫
