A real-life mystery is unfolding around the tragic death that shook fans worldwide. Nearly two years after the passing of “Friends” star Matthew Perry, the investigation remains active and is gaining fresh momentum.
On October 28, 2023, the 54-year-old actor’s body was discovered in a jacuzzi. Initially, the death was thought to be accidental. However, toxicology tests later revealed that acute ketamine poisoning was the cause. Ketamine, commonly used in anesthesia and psychotherapy, was found in his system along with traces of buprenorphine, a medication used to treat addiction.
The timing of the ketamine presence didn’t align with Perry’s last recorded therapy sessions, prompting investigators to ask where he was obtaining the drug and who was supplying it.
Throughout 2024, multiple suspects have surfaced in the case:

- Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry’s personal assistant, is accused of administering ketamine without proper authorization;
- Doctors Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, allegedly involved in questionable ketamine prescriptions;
- Eric Fleming, a close friend and known supplier of ketamine vials;
- Jaswin Sanga, dubbed the “Ketamine Queen” in Los Angeles, suspected of distributing ketamine to high-profile clients.

Three suspects have already pleaded guilty. Dr. Plasencia accepted a plea deal that could result in a prison sentence of up to 40 years. Sanga remains the only one denying the allegations, with her trial scheduled for August 2025.
In mid-2024, suspicion also fell on Brooke Mueller, ex-wife of Charlie Sheen and a close acquaintance of Perry, especially during his rehabilitation. Authorities seized her phone and laptop. Though she is a witness rather than a suspect, she provided critical information about contacts and doctors connected to the case.
Recently, a startling development emerged: a second celebrity suspect is now part of the investigation. Law enforcement confiscated a phone and laptop from a well-known woman close to Perry. She is suspected of helping to procure ketamine illegally, possibly by connecting doctors and suppliers.

While her identity has not been publicly revealed, sources confirm she had a long-standing relationship with Perry and communicated with him during his rehab. Investigators are reviewing the data on her devices to determine if she played a role in the illicit drug network.
The inquiry is being carried out by local police, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. This case is far from resolved. Meanwhile, Perry’s family and close friends continue to honor his legacy with deep respect and care.
