Despite living with cerebral palsy, Rory Callum Sykes rose to fame as a child actor. He appeared in films and hosted the British RTV show Kiddy Capers. Through sheer determination, he overcame significant challenges, even learning to walk.
Today, Rory’s mother, Shelley, shared the devastating news of his tragic passing. Her son lost his life in a fire that consumed his home.
Shelley revealed that Rory had been trapped in a separate cottage in Malibu when the fire erupted. She attempted to extinguish the flames but was hindered by a sudden water supply cutoff.
Unable to reach emergency services by phone, Shelley set out to find firefighters on her own. When they arrived, she learned the heartbreaking news that Rory had died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
“I couldn’t douse the embers on the roof with the hose because there was no water. By the time the firefighters brought me back, his cottage had burned to the ground. My heart is shattered,” Shelley recounted.
The California fires have now claimed 11 lives. Jennifer Aniston also shared the loss of a dear friend who died while trying to assist other victims.
