Two teenage boys, Jaydon Pettipas and Aidan Hart, made a remarkable discovery while walking through their neighborhood in Saint Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada. They saw a crowd gathered around a car and, curious, approached to see what had captured everyone’s attention. To their surprise, they found a creature trapped beneath the vehicle, seemingly frozen and unable to move.
Realizing that the animal needed immediate help, the boys rushed into a nearby store to grab a small milk container, unsure of how to assist the animal but determined to try. The creature, a squirrel, was covered in insulating foam, making it immobile and at risk of dying. They quickly reached out to family and friends for advice, but no one knew how to help. Jaydon’s mother then called a local veterinarian for guidance.
Dr. Melanie Eagan from St. George Veterinary Clinic explained that the squirrel had been caught in the foam, preventing it from moving its back legs. The vet believed the animal had likely wandered into a garage or shed where someone was sealing a hole, and the wet foam had hardened around it.
With persistence, Dr. Eagan and her team used rubbing alcohol to carefully remove the foam, allowing the squirrel to regain its mobility. After losing some fur during the process, the squirrel was finally freed and later returned to the wild, thanks to the quick thinking and kindness of the two teenagers.
These compassionate teens were rightfully praised as heroes for their actions, showing how a simple act of care can make a huge difference.
