An Airplane Becomes a Haven
Inspired by the idea, Jo Ann moved forward with the plan. The total cost to convert the aircraft into a livable space was around $30,000—far more affordable than traditional housing.
The airplane, an impressive 138 feet long with 76 windows, provided both ample room and natural light, making it a surprisingly perfect foundation for a family home.
Crafting Comfort in an Aircraft
Jo Ann redesigned the aircraft’s interior to be as warm and practical as any regular house. She built three bedrooms, a spacious living area, a fully equipped kitchen, and even added a laundry room with a washer and dryer. With essential features like a phone line and oven included, it had everything her family needed.
