From YouTube to Drill: The Awful Story of a Fake Dentist Who Fooled Everyone

In Czechia, three family members have been arrested for illegally running a dental clinic without any formal medical education or licensing, according to The Guardian.

The unauthorized practice was established in 2023 in the town of Havlíčkův Brod. A 22-year-old man assumed the role of a dentist, performing procedures such as tooth extractions, root canals, and administering anesthesia—all self-taught through online videos.

A 50-year-old woman acted as the clinic’s nurse. Though employed in the healthcare field, she misused her access to medical supplies, bringing in items like anesthetics, adhesives, cleaning powders, and dental filling materials.

The third person, a 44-year-old man, provided the location for the operation and created dental prosthetics for patients. Authorities have not disclosed the precise familial ties between the trio.

While officials have not stated whether any patients came forward with complaints, the group is believed to have earned roughly 4 million Czech koruna (approximately 14.5 million rubles) during their time operating the clinic.

All three suspects have been taken into custody. They now face multiple charges, including operating an unlicensed business, money laundering, attempted bodily harm, theft, and drug-related offenses. If convicted, each could receive up to eight years in prison.

In a separate incident in Sweden, a licensed dentist reported concerns about children with severe dental issues. A court later determined the parents were responsible due to negligence, sentencing them to eight months behind bars.
