Marcheline Bertrand passed away in 2007 at 56 after battling breast cancer, a loss that deeply affected Angelina Jolie.
The actress revealed that she pursued a career in show business to honor her mother’s wishes. “I did this because it was my mom’s dream,” Angelina explained.
When Marcheline divorced at 25, she was left with two children and chose to prioritize motherhood, abandoning her own acting aspirations. “She loved being a mom, but she always wanted me to be an actress. I don’t remember making that decision, I just remember it made mom happy,” said the Maleficent star.
After her mother’s passing, Jolie briefly considered stepping away from acting, as she no longer found meaning in it.
The actress also discussed her son Maddox’s ambition to become a pilot. At 23, he has already started flying, and Angelina expressed no concern. “What worries me more is when people can’t find their path or discover what they truly love in life,” she shared.
At the close of the previous year, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt finalized their divorce after eight years of legal battles. The actor was eager to move forward with the process, as he hopes to become a father again.
