A generation that spent all their free time with friends on the streets.
When the sun set, this generation played hide-and-seek.
They made mud cakes.
A generation of sports card collectors.
This generation would find empty Coke bottles, clean them, and return them to the local store for five cents each, using the money to buy a Mountain Dew and a candy bar.
A generation that crafted paper toys by hand.
A generation that bought vinyl records to listen to on record players.
A generation that viewed slow dances and holding hands as meaningful moments.
A generation that collected photos and albums filled with childhood memories.
A generation that spent rainy days playing cards and board games.
A generation whose TV would turn off at midnight after the National Anthem.
A generation whose parents were always present.
A generation that went to church, trying not to laugh too much, knowing they’d be dealt with at home.
To keep our parents from knowing we were still awake, we laughed under the covers at night.
Sadly, no matter how much we wish, this generation will never come back.
I loved it when I was growing up. There was so much innocence and the purest of moments, especially when a girl and boy were in love.
